The Norwegian Competition Authority will not intervene in Norgesgruppen’s acquisition of Vinhuset Engros AS and Spritcompagniet AS from FAV-gruppen. The parties are engaged in wholesale distribution of wine and distilled spirits to, among others, hotels and restaurants.
– The Norwegian Competition Authority has analyzed the effects of the acquisition. Our conclusion is that the acquisition will not lead to a significant restriction of competition, and we therefore closed the case without an intervention, said Head of section Magnus Gabrielsen.
Norgesgruppen’s acquisition was notified to the Norwegian Competition Authority on 29th September 2009. After a first assessment, the parties submitted additional information about the acquisition in a full notification to the Norwegian Competition Authority. The Authority received the full notification on 19th November 2009.
The Norwegian Competition Authority has gathered information from the parties about the undertakings and the market. In addition, a round of hearings at customers, competitors and suppliers to the undertakings was also held.
